Habits and Our Identity
Every action you take is a step toward who you will become
We tell ourselves stories about who we are each day.
✨ These stories can serve us:
I can handle any problem that comes my way. I am resilient. I make healthy choices. I love to read and learn new things…
💣 Or these stories can hinder us:
I never have energy. Monday’s are always a hard day for me. I’ve been impatient my whole life. People just misunderstand me….
Without fail, the stories we choose to tell ourselves become our identity.
Unless… You take control of your narrative and your identity along with it!
Because your identity is linked to your habits, it will ultimately play a large part in what you can accomplish long term. Reverse engineer this concept to successfully drive behavior change.
When setting a goal, think less about what you need to DO and more about WHO you have the opportunity to be! Then identify 2 or 3 small things to do daily that align with your evolved identity.
📝 Example:
You want to learn a new skill that will take your business to the next level
😵💫 Old Story:
“I don’t like to read and I definitely don’t have time to learn new things”
😎 New Narrative:
“Learning is important to me. I am a person who schedules time each morning to read and study something new”
This new narrative becomes a part of your everyday identity.
From here, define intentional habits that align with who you choose to be moving forward.
New Habit:
Reading personal or professional development books for 10 minutes each morning before you open emails.
Moxie Manifest invites you to explore your own existing narratives and vision for a desired identity in this 15 minute writing exercise.
We are rooting for you!
